Gardeners have long known that the Hellebore is a workhorse in the winter garden.

This hardy plant blooms brightly in shady spots that would be bare during the chilly winter months. It also provides much-needed nectar and pollen for honey bees that are out foraging on warmish winter days. But who knew that hellebores are beautiful long-lived cut flowers? Anna Thurmond, Norfolk Master Gardener Association President, Colonial Place resident and member of the Garden Club of Colonial Place and Riverview knew. Thank you, Anna, for sharing that great tip and this beautiful picture of your Hellebore arrangement!
