Welcome Ashlyn Dorsey

Unit Administrative Assistant

We want to give a warm welcome to Ashlyn Dorsey, the new UAA for our Norfolk Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension. She picked a fine time to join us but we can already see some of her great work: In addition to all the preliminary required training (from home) she has been busy updating the VCE Norfolk website and creating a VCE Norfolk Facebook page.

Ashlyn is originally from Wood County, WV and completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at West Virginia University. She has been living in the Hampton Roads area since 2018.

After graduation, Ashlyn worked in college Admissions for two years. She has always held a passion for community support and outreach and thought Virginia Cooperative Extension would be a perfect fit. Starting a new job in the midst of a global pandemic has not been an easy task, however. Many online trainings and Zoom meetings have aided in her adjustment to VCE, but she is eager to get to work in the office so she can start getting “exposed” to some of us Master Gardeners!
Ashlyn lives in Isle of Wight County with her husband, Chris, and Labradoodle, Truman. In her free time, she loves to cook, bake, sew, and tend to their personal (and modest) vegetable garden and houseplants. She is so excited for the many volunteer opportunities to come!
