Partnerships are the Best!

The Potager Garden has been a vital component of the Norfolk Botanical Garden for several years.

It remains a great avenue for the public to learn about growing their own vegetables, potatoes, herbs, and other food sources in their own backyard. This area of the garden wouldn’t be as lively and fresh without the help of our Norfolk Master Gardeners! They not only help grow and maintain a beautiful kitchen garden but provide an excellent interpretive service to the public about which foods they have growing at the moment and how the public can grow them at home as an excellent source of sustainable living. We also have NMGs helping our Horticulture team in various locations around the garden, at the Butterfly House, and now there’s renewed interest in the Garden Interpreter project. For this, Master Gardeners would be stationed at various sections of the gardens, usually on weekends, where they can engage with the public and provide information pertaining to that part of the garden.

Norfolk Master Gardeners contributed over 930 volunteer hours to NBG in 2021.  All of us at the Norfolk Botanical Garden thank the Norfolk Master Gardeners for their service, and we hope to continue our great relationship for many years to come.

Shown are Chris Schweitzer, Kate Melhuish, Marcia Oubre, Cathleen Owen, Larry Passwaters, Peter Hatchard, and Chris Kroll – just a few of the NMGs who contributed their time and talents in 2021.
