BEHIND THE SCENES

Barb Wilson ‘07 • Feb 03, 2020

Do you wonder what goes on behind the scenes of The Germinator Blog?

So, you may have seen some of our Blog articles, but how does it work? How does it get there?

First, we need YOU to get it there. We need you to write an article: maybe something research-based on your favorite flower, shrub, tree, bug. Maybe some garden site you visited or a review of an environmental movie or book. You write the article (using WORD (.docx, .odt format), attach the file to an email and send it to germinator@nmgv.org. If you don’t have WORD just submit it in the text of an email, attach any pictures, and the Germinator Bloginator will make it happen.

Due to the magic of our webmaster, Michael Cole, ’18 (whose alternate is Kathryn Bush ’18), your email shoots out to the editors on the Communications Committee. Your article is reviewed for the usual correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation as well as, resource info. The reviewers then send it on to the Bloginator - Michael Cole or his protégé, Kim Swecker ’19.

Michael (or Kim) will post your article and, if you’re a Germinator blog subscriber, you’ll get notice of the blog post right that minute or sometimes at a scheduled release time/date. The Bloginator will figure that out depending on how frequently our Master Gardeners write and submit items for posting.

We are excited and hope you will be too, but we need you to make it happen! Subscribing to the blog is almost as important as writing for it. The Germinator Blog can allow timely and interesting news to go out to all Norfolk Master Gardeners, but only if you do subscribe. Be sure to visit https://www.norfolkmastergardeners.org , then click on The Germinator Blog at the top of the screen. To receive updates from the new blog, scroll down to subscribe.
